I’m hosting my first cookbook club and everybody is invited. The only requirement is that you must bring a dish. There is very little I enjoy more than making and having food with others. This club is an excuse to find new foodie friends and learn about new dishes. I hope to be inspired by new food combinations that I have never tried before.
I was inspired by Ryan Norheimer’s cookbook club in New York. Each person brings a dish from their favourite cookbook, we share the dish and the process of making it. Since participating in the one in New York would be a bit of a challenge, why not bring it to the park next to my house? July 6th at Hamersley Park here we come! I have gotten a permit and I made a poster. Now I just need to spread the word, bake a pie, bring it to the park for 2 hours and hopefully meet new foodie friends in my neighbourhood.
My main fear is that nobody will show up, this is the adult version of being scared nobody would come to your birthday party. Or the worst fear would be that people only come to eat and they don’t bring a dish. This would defeat the whole purpose and it's a likely scenario. I already have 3 people confirmed-ish, so at the end of the day, we will just have 4 delicious desserts to share which is not bad at all.
For a little context, on my crazy brain. A few weeks ago I made a pretty good pie. In the high of my amazing pie, I decided to call this summer “Pie Summer”. This means I get to make as many pies as I can fit into my schedule. The cookbook club is an excuse to perfect my pie-making skills and have people eat it. For me, there is no point in making a pie just for yourself.

With all that said, I leave you the poster for our North Vancouver cookbook club. I am excited to make a new pie, find new ways to connect with my community, share tips and tricks and eat some delicious desserts.
Leave below any suggestions you might have and what type of pie I should make. This is my first time hosting a food-related event and I have a feeling it won’t be my last. Reach out if you have any questions.
Hope to see you there!
What a great idea, unfortunatelly, North Vancouver is a bit far away .... Wish you the best, as always.
Super good idea! How can I help from so far???
